USE-IT in Belgium was founded in 2002 by www.dehondsjaren.be in the city of Ghent. The first projects like www.bimbam.be proved that cultural heritage was not about boring guides and dusty monuments, but could be brought to life by young creative people. In 2005, their first USE-IT Map of Ghent became such a success that the idea is now being borrowed by many other cities. The basic idea: if you want tourists to become part of the city, they should break out of the tourist bubble and act like a local.
USE-IT Brussels is part of a European network where everybody sticks to the same basic rules. If you want to make the network bigger, check www.use-it.info
